The ladies of the Unputdownable Book Club rang in the holiday season with our annual Christmas Party on Dec. 1 (yes, we are keen to get into the festive spirit…and the wine). One of the highlights of the night was the White Elephant Gift Exchange. Tensions may or may not have risen as the ladies jockeyed for position on some of the more sought-after gifts. Luckily Erin was able to step in as referee before any blood was shed and in the end, everyone went home happy, or at the very least, whole. Tune in tomorrow for Cat‘s full recap on the Christmas Party shenanigans.
Gift-giving (and stealing) can be tough. It can be challenging to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list – your mother, your masseur, your man-eating girlfriend. As we all know, the most important thing about holiday shopping is how you look when you’re doing it. I can’t promise that a great outfit will get you to the front of those long lines but it probably doesn’t hurt. To that end, I have put together this fantasy gift-getting ensemble.
Etoile Isabel Marant rouched dress, 270 CAD / Alexander McQueen , 925 CAD / Falke patterned tight, 48 CAD / Givenchy thigh high heels, 1,875 CAD / Loeffler Randall , 490 CAD / Alexis Bittar yellow gold jewelry, 94 CAD / House of Harlow 1960 leather bracelet, 79 CAD / Valentino clear belt, 575 CAD
And hey, while you’re at it, why not pick up a book or two. I’ve already picked out a few choice reads for the people on my list. For myself (I’m always on my list), I’ve picked out One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez after hearing several of the ladies in book club rave about it. For my father, a devoted fan, I’m mulling over I’m Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen by Sylvie Simmons. For anyone who enjoys great photography I have my eye on a few statement coffee table books. For the dog-lover, Dogs by Tim Flach. For the nudist, Paris: Portrait of a City by Jean-Claude Gautrand. And of course, for the fashionista, The Sartorialist: Closer by Scott Schuman.
