Book of the month – Me Before You by JoJo Moyes

Well… I am absolutely ecstatic this morning.

If you’re an avid follower of the blog, you’ll know why just by reading the title of this blog post. But before we get to that, I need to tell you about the fabulous month the UBC girls had.

We are approaching our little book club’s third anniversary. Crazy. This also means the founding members will soon begin to choose their third books. We find this super exciting, obviously. So when we found out the infamous Audrey Niffenegger (author of the fabulous The Time Traveler’s Wife and the extremely-weird-and-not-so-fabulous Her Fearful Symmetry – more on that here) recently came out with a new book, Raven Girl, we figured we had already nailed down Erin Chezick‘s next pick. Zing!

Just kidding!

On a more kind note, Erin is always sharing awesome and interesting articles with us. Most recently she shared this piece on the genderization of books and more specifically, book covers. It’s really interesting to see “girly” books with a Stephen King cover, or to think about why J.K. Rowling isn’t known as Joanne Rowling. Terrific read, if you get the chance.

(Side note: my browser thinks”genderization” isn’t a word. How wrong you are, Google Chrome.)

Me Before You

We are also incredibly excited because a few of the UBC girls are doing the Barrhaven Run for Rogers House again this year, complete with a post-run barbecue and slumber party. Praying for great weather to enjoy on my new patio!

So back to the reason I am ecstatic this morning… my dreams came true and we chose Me Before You by JoJo Moyes as our June book club pick! If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that I’ve been raving about it for ages (in this review and in my new Julia’s Picks post). Independent from my influence, Kristy chose it and I am just so incredibly excited for the girls to read it. I hope they love it as much as I did (and cry just as much, too).

Are YOU going to read Me Before You?

Hi Susan! It really seems to be a popular choice lately. I am so incredibly happy our book club ended up picking it! I made sure the girls promised to read the last 100 pages in private though… no one likes crying in a coffee shop or on the bus! Haha.
      Thanks for stopping by!
